Job Announcement:  Police Office (Part Time)

The City of Kiel Police Department has an immediate opening for one (1) patrol officer position and is also establishing an eligibility list for future hiring. This is a part-time position and our part-time officers assist and supplement our full-time staffing when the need arises with patrol duties and/or special event functions. A comprehensive field training program will be provided by the police department upon hiring. The police department will also provide new hires with a duty weapon and upon completion of 1,000 hours the police department will reimburse specific uniforms items purchased at time of hire. Ballistic vests and duty belts are not provided by the police department to Part-time staff.

Minimum Qualifications:  U.S. citizen; Minimum age - 21; WI Driver license; Good driving record; Good physical condition; Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification; High school diploma; Associate Degree upon completion of Field Training Program; Ability to possess a firearm; No felony convictions; No domestic abuse convictions; Vision correctable to 20/20; Good verbal and written communication skills; React quickly and effectively to stressful situations; Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems; Clear and concise speech; Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously; Ability to perform essential functions of this position; Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment

Hourly Pay range (2010)

Start: $14.78 / After 6-months: $15.60 / After 1-year: $16.43

Hiring Process:

Successful applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and who have properly submitted their completed documents will be invited to participate in a written testing process to be held in the City of Kiel in March 2010. All applicants must take the written test. Transferred test scores will not be accepted. Candidates with the top scores on the written test will be invited to participate in the multi-step interview process. Anticipated field training program start date for new hires is tentatively scheduled for April 2010 or soon thereafter.
