Kiel Police Department Receives Suspicious Activity Report |
| Thursday, July 12, 2007 On the evening of Wednesday, July 11, 2007, the City of Kiel Police Department received a report of suspicious activity which had occurred in our city during the afternoon hours on Monday, July 9th, 2007. Three young girls were sitting on a park bench along the Sheboygan River one block south of our downtown area when an unidentified male pulled up in a vehicle and stopped near them. The man sat in his vehicle watching the girls which made them feel uncomfortable so the girls got up and began to walk away. As they did this, the man exited his vehicle and began walking towards the girls in a direct manner. Recognizing that the man's behavior was abnormal, the girls began to run from the man. The girls reported that the man then also began to run towards them. The girls ran on a foot path along the river and made their way to a foot bridge located behind the Kiel Community Center and Kiel Public Library. Upon reaching the bridge, the girls crossed the bridge towards Hingiss Park. Once the girls reached the bridge, the man reportedly had stopped following them and returned to his car, but was then seen driving in the area in close proximity to the foot bridge on the opposite side from the girls. After crossing the bridge, the girls made their way through the city park to a nearby home and reported seeing the man driving in the park near the foot bridge and then also on nearby streets and alleys in that area. The man is described as a white male, 25-30 years of age, approximately 6'00 tall, 160-190 lbs. The man is further described as having very short "buzzed" cut hair, a goatee, and had his lower lip pierced. He was last seen wearing a maroon or light red colored t-shirt and blue jeans. The vehicle is described as a 2-door light maroon or faded red vehicle with rust along the bottom of the driver's door. One adult witness who was working in the area saw this vehicle and believes it might be a Ford Focus or similar model. Anyone with information about this incident or if someone sees a vehicle or person matching this description is asked to call the City of Kiel Police Department at 920-894-2211. Important Note: The individual described above is not actively wanted by our police department for a crime. His actions may very well have been well intended and have a legitimate and lawful purpose. Our agency would simply like to speak to the man to obtain information from him explaining his actions. The intent of this release is not to create public fear or panic, but simply to provide the public with information that this incident was reported to our police department so as to heighten community awareness and solicit assistance in locating this person and/or the vehicle involved.
