The Kiel Police Department recently received an equipment grant award from the United States Municipal Police Association for two video cameras earmarked for both squad cars.

Having video cameras in the squads provides evidence for many types of offenses, including OWI offenses.  The video cameras also serve a dual purpose to protect the officers and the department from liability to counter and prevent false claims of misconduct. 

The cameras should be installed by early 2007.
