New Laptop Purchased with Funds Donated by Kiel Optimist Club |
| The Kiel Optimist Club recently donated $1,000 to the Kiel Police Department for use to purchase a new laptop computer. According to Chief Dave Funkhouser, the police department needed to replace an old desktop model in the police department's squad room that had recently failed, but funds were not available in the budget to buy a new computer. "The Optimist Club's donation couldn't have come at a better time for us, we really appreciate it. We were in a tight bind and needed a new computer for our squad room, but like everyone else, our budget is tight so we had to pass on replacing it this year. Now we don't have to." Chief Funkhouser said that the police department decided to purchase a laptop in lieu of a desktop PC for more versatility and portable use in the field. "Having a laptop makes more sense as we can now have our officers take their computer notes and files with them to training schools and in the field. It will allow us to have the ability of tranferring evidence and notes in computer format on scene out in the field if we need to." The donated funds were given to the Chief at a recent Optimist Club meeting in Kiel. |
